So I just finished reading an article on Ukraine and pro Russian rebels. Now that NATO leaders has made clear of its support for Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says that he is now ready to order a cease-fire. My question is why did it take four months of fighting to come to this decision? There is no doubt about it that Russia should be punished for it's conduct in Ukraine. I would hope for a peaceful resolution, however if it takes harsher sanctions against Russia for them to get a clue, I am all for that as well.
Take a moment to read the article for yourself, and let me know your take on this "cease fire deal."
Hello Dana,
ReplyDeleteThe cease-fire that won't last, took so long because they don't want to give up the oil fields to Russia. Russia knows that Ukraine is not a member of NATO and that they are just blowing smoke. If they were, then unilaterally NATO would have to militarily intervene. One thing people forget is that Kiev is really the start of Russian identity. I feel that Putin wants his ancestry back into his bloc and that a cease-fire will only give him more time to come up with a plan to retake Ukraine.
