Blog Intention....

Hi, My name is Dana Neilly.

I have created this blog in an effort to communicate with my fellow classmates on mass media political topics.
I am new to the blog world, so I am excited to see how the communication and discussion forum is engaged.
There are many things that are happening around the world daily.
Some of which the media pays close attention to, and some in which I believe the media could induce a greater effort in establishing importance.
What I understand at this point, is that the political world including policies, and white house discussions are particularly driven by the media.
The media plays a persuasive role in identifying the issues, and debates of the political rim.

  1. Dana,
You are so correct in your perception of the media and its relationship to politics. The media persuades the public by disclosing or not disclosing certain information. Often times, the media also tells too much information. I look at the situation regarding the beheading of two American journalists in Syria. Why would the media disclose the fact that the U.S. is analyzing the tapes, the voice and etc. The media tilts the hand of the American government TOO MUCH. Often times, the less said, the better for everyone.

    1. Amanda,
Exactly my point! I sometimes wonder if and when that way of media and politics will ever change. What I find to be sad is the amount of control the media has on the political actions and discussions. The control is ever so strong on the American people as well.
In regards to the two American journalists from Syria, all I could do is shake my head and say wow! You are right. I really can't understand the reasoning behind disclosing that information, but hey it seems the older that I get, the more I realize the media is out to give as little information when requested, and as much information when demanded.
